What to expect in Sunday Morning Worship
Sunday services at SCAPC are at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. (During the summer we shift to a single service at 9:30 a.m.) The 8:30 service is approximately 45 minutes and offers the sacrament of communion each week. We welcome all those who wish to receive the sacrament to take communion. The 10:30 service lasts about an hour and features a full choir, and a special message for children, after which 1st grade and under depart for a time of play until the end of the service. Second grade and up are encouraged to sit with their parents; activity packs are provided – ask any usher for one. Communion is celebrated in this service 12 times a year.
What should I wear?
Visitors are sometimes concerned about what to wear. There is no Sunday dress code. Many men wear suits, some wear khakis. Many women wear dresses, some wear slacks. The 8:30 service tends to be a little more casual than the 10:30. You are invited to wear whatever will allow you to feel comfortable and focus on worship and God.
If you have children
Childcare is available at both services and during Sunday School for infants and toddlers. Your children are welcome in either service. Age-grade Sunday school starts at age 3 and is located throughout the education building. Find out more here.
Sunday Morning Classes
Church school classes are 9:30-10:15 each Sunday morning (September-May). A single adult Sunday School class is held during the Summer at 8:30 a.m. Nursery care is provided for infants. The nursery and children’s classrooms are located on the second floor of the main building. Middle school and High school youth meet on the Third Floor in the Youth Room. Classes for adults are located in several dedicated spaces in the education building and the Land Building. As classes change, so do the locations. Signs are posted, but please ask if you need help. If you would like to talk to someone about Jesus Christ, what it means to be a Presbyterian, or how to join SCAPC
We encourage you to visit Phifer Library following the 10:30 a.m. service where Pastors and members of the Membership Committee are available to talk with you about any of your questions or concerns.
