For many years SCAPC & PW have supported our November Mission Partner, Eden Centers, as they celebrate the holidays with their residents. Since Eden Center’s founding SCAPC has been on the ground volunteering, feeding, mentoring, gardening, constructing and celebrating. Thanks in part to our involvement, in that time Eden Centers has grown and transformed. EC now has two residences and a short-term emergency center.
Along with the Center’s expansion, its traditional Thanksgiving Dinner is also transforming. This year, for the first time, both Eden Houses and the associated outreach Eden Center will join together for a Thanksgiving Feast to be held at Trinity Episcopal Church and is expected to host up to 150 guests. The responsibility for providing this significant meal will be spread among SCAPC, Trinity Church, Church of the King, and possibly two other churches.
We hope that this will remain a rewarding and engaging community project for PW & SCAPC, just without the added stress of being solely responsible for carrying it through.
PW is still offering our usual Sign-Up format for food delivery (see link above). Feel free to sign up with a partner for a larger dish.
If you would like to serve at or attend the meal, volunteers are welcome! EC will need help setting up, cleaning up, and potentially serving the food.
If you cannot deliver food on Tuesday 11/25 by 4:15 p.m., perhaps you would like to make a monetary contribution. Monetary donations will be used to buy food items that have not been accounted for on the list. Or you may deliver dishes on Saturday-Monday, to Paige Morrison at 50 Audubon Blvd. Please call/text/email her to set this up. (504-975-2662, pesmorrison@gmail.com).
Thank you for making Eden Centers PW’s November Mission Partner, for donating to this worthy cause, and for being a part of making these ladies lives just a little bit better every day!
