Annual Events
Youth Sunday
A special experience for the entire congregation when the Sunday morning worship service is led entirely by our youth. The youth compose sermons, prepare an affirmation of faith, rehearse the reading of scripture and prayers and perform a message to the children. This year, Youth Sunday is January 29th, 2012.
Fall Retreat
This year we will again head north to Covington, LA to Favrotville. This year’s theme will be centered around Relationships. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to get away for a fun weekend! There is no cost to attend, but registration is required! We will leave the church at 5:30 PM on Friday, November 11th, and return to the church by 11:30 AM on Sunday, November 13th. Confirmation Class
Each spring, we invite our 8th graders to take the next step in their faith journey through Confirmation. There are two aspects of our confirmation. The first is the Jr. High Mission Trip to Houston, TX, held January 13-16th. The second aspect of confirmation is a seven week class that will be led by Andy and the youth leaders. The class will meet on Sunday Mornings during the 9:30 AM Sunday School Hour beginning on February 5th and will continue until March 25th, with the exception of February 19th for Mardi Gras. Summer Trips
Mo-Ranch Jr. High Jubilee | July 7-12—Six Flags, the Big Gulp, and the Mo-Pole…just three of the great reasons to join us for this year’s trip to beautiful Mo-Ranch!!! Spend an unforgettable week at Mo-Ranch Conference Center located in the hill country of central Texas. We will join hundreds of junior high school students from around the country in a week full of activities including worship, small groups, and recreational games—all centered around the theme “Message Received.” This is a fun-filled week that you will always remember.
When: July 7th-12th
Who: Open to students that have completed 6th-8th grade.

Travel Details:
Departure from New Orleans: We will meet at SCAPC at 6:30 AM Saturday, July 7th. We will spend the night in San Antonio, TX. We will spend Sunday morning and early afternoon at Six Flags Fiesta in San Antonio (tickets are included). We will depart Six Flags around 3:00 PM to arrive at Mo Ranch by 5:00 PM for registration.
Arrival in New Orleans: We will eat breakfast at Mo Ranch and depart by 9:00 AM Thursday, July 12th and expect to return to New Orleans between 9:00 and 10:00 PM. We will have the students call when we are close to have them picked up at the church.
Montreat Sr. High Conference | July 21-28—spend an unforgettable week at Montreat Conference Center located in the mountains of North Carolina. We will join hundreds of senior high school students from around the country in a week full of activities including worship, small groups, games, energizers all based on the theme “Perfectly Imperfect.” Experience a fun and creative worship setting while exploring your own faith. This is a fun-filled week that you will always remember. Open to students that have completed 8th-12th grade.

Travel Details:
Departure from New Orleans: We will meet at SCAPC at 12:00 PM Saturday, July 21st. We will spend the night near Atlanta, GA. We will enjoy a few hours of fun in and around Atlanta, then continue the drive expecting an arrival at Montreat by 5:00 PM for registration.
Arrival in New Orleans: We will eat breakfast at Montreat and depart as early as possible Saturday, July 28th and expect to return to New Orleans between 9:00 & 10:00 PM. We will have the students call when we are close to have them picked up at the church.
