Our Purpose

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, our congregation and partners have united to alleviate suffering in the Greater New Orleans community.  Specifically, our church is coordinating and hosting outside work groups.  We have now begun the rebuilding phase of our mission by partnering with Habitat for Humanity to build homes on Ferry Place in the Hollygrove neighborhood.

Since November 2005, RHINO has hosted more than 1800 volunteers from 30 states, gutted over 200 homes, and is now constructing new homes!

How You Can Help

Join our RHINO teams in the field any Tuesday-Friday from 7 -3pm.  Contact Sarah to arrange a date.  Watch the bulletin for Saturday work days.

Visit with the RHINO volunteers.  They love time talking with SCAPC members and friends!  Come by and chat while they rest on the porch in the afternoons.

Host a dinner for a RHINO work team at your home one night.  Coordinate your desired date with Sarah

Lead a tour:  This is such an important part of the volunteers’ week:  they see the extent of the devastation AND recovery of our city.  Anyone can do it!  Please contact Dave White (dlw1751@aol.com) for more information.
