RHINO

Rebuilding Hope in New Orleans (RHINO) is an outreach ministry of St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church, organized in response to Hurricane Katrina. It hosts volunteer groups from around the country and coordinates their work throughout their visit.

RHINO's History
RHINO has hosted nearly 3,000 volunteers from more than 30 states. These volunteers have gutted 200 homes and built four new homes. The volunteers began “gutting” flooded homes to prepare them for rebuilding in November 2005.

As the need for gutting ended in 2007, RHINO began a new phase by partnering with Habitat for Humanity to build several new homes on a block-long street called Ferry Place. RHINO provides volunteer labor and a donation for the materials, and Habitat for Humanity provides knowledgeable staff to organize the work. See pictures of our work on Ferry Place in the RHINO Photo Gallery.

Support RHINO
We appreciate the support of everyone around the country; rebuilding New Orleans and rejuvenating its people will be a long, hard and essential journey. If you're unable to physically work with us, please consider giving a donation to RHINO to further our work.
